Inspiration Running Dry?

You may think that inspiration is a personal thing in that no one can help you with it, when in fact, other people can be the very seed of inspiration that you need. Finding the main idea for your game is up to you but once your there and need more, youll want a couple tips.

Break free

Get out. Enjoy the weather. Think of things other than your game. Thought loops can happen very easily but don't let them take control. Inspiration searching can be very fun but in many cases, inspiration is a random thought that won't happen if your trying too hard.

Form a think tank

Get a group of people interested in your game together and start brainstorming. For every person in the tank, the possibility of finding that knockout idea increases exponentially. This tip contradicts the former, but you never know when or where you'll get that light bulb above your head.

Change your environment

If you've been listening to the same songs over and over, or you brainstorm in the same room, chances are you'll tend to think the same things and start forming those thought loops again. Change the lighting, the room, or even the furniture layout if you so wish.

Play Games

Play games that pertain to the genre that your game is in. Or even play games that do not have anything to do with your game. You might make a new genre. I just thought of one. What about a First Person Shooter a la Board Game with a little side quest thingy where you get to play a game about playing a game while gaming. It'll be up to 1024 players split-screen only. I know it won't fly with the hardcore gaming crowd, but it might not be too difficult to play for casual players.

I give up

It's hard to write an article about how to find inspiration when in reality, it's all up to you. I believe this entire website can be viewed as a source of inspiration so why narrow it down to just one article.

The End.

Wow, I really have to take a course on endings.
